Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that he would likely have pursued a career in media or music business ownership if he had not become a recording artiste.
The Grammy-nominated singer made the disclosure during an interview with PlayKisstra, where he spoke about his passion for entertainment and the alternative career path he would have chosen.
Davido said his interest in the entertainment industry goes beyond performing, explaining that he would have remained involved in show business through other platforms.
According to the singer, he would probably have owned a media company or established a record label if music was not his primary career.
“I would probably own a media house,” Davido said, adding that his passion for entertainment would have guided his professional journey regardless of the direction it took.
The singer’s comments reflect his expanding role within the entertainment ecosystem. Beyond his success as a performer, Davido has also built influence as a music executive, supporting emerging talents and contributing to the growth of Afrobeats globally.
Industry observers note that many African artistes are increasingly moving beyond music performance into entrepreneurship, with ventures spanning media, entertainment companies, fashion, technology and other industries.
Davido’s remarks further highlight the changing landscape of the entertainment industry, where creative talents are increasingly becoming business owners and cultural entrepreneurs.
