Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has reaffirmed its commitment to internationalization and academic excellence through strategic engagements in Canada and the United States aimed at expanding its global academic partnerships.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, accompanied by the Director of the Centre for Research, Industrial Linkage and International Cooperation (CRIIC), Dr. Yusuf Suleiman, represented the institution at the 2026 Conference of the Canadian Association of African Studies (CAAS), held from June 9 to 12 at the Glendon Campus of York University in Toronto, Canada.
The conference brought together scholars, researchers, policymakers, and institutional leaders from across the world to discuss emerging issues in African studies, research collaboration, and higher education development.
The University’s participation formed part of its broader strategy to strengthen international collaborations, promote research partnerships, enhance academic exchange programmes, and position Al-Hikmah University as a globally competitive institution.
The visit also provided opportunities to establish new institutional relationships and explore collaborative initiatives with universities and research organizations in Canada and the United States, in line with the University’s vision of expanding its global academic footprint.
